VWWE 3.0
May 9, 2009

First up, a link. Daz, aka Batista, as some of you may know is a keen runner and will be taking part in this years Edinbrough Marathon. Daz will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation, please if you can led Daz your support (and more importantly, your money lol) http://www.justgiving.com/dazreeves

Secondly a big welcome to Jason and Daneil who've joined in the past few days.

Next.. a reprint of what was said in chat for those who missed it

Ladies and gentlemen, as you will all no doubt be aware VWWE has recently undergone something of a slump in fortunes. The boom period of 2008 now a distant memory, that period fading into a period of average performance that has now, like this same period in 2008, slumped into a crisis.

The chat is regularly empty with less than 100 posts per day, a sad climb down from the 2000 posted on the evening of WrestleMania 25 and the regular 1000 plus some weeks ago.

Members have deserted VWWE and while some have welcomed the departures of Scott, Paul and others, they do leave gaps in the roster.

The quality of new members who would replace those who've left, is again sadly lacking.

The shows and updates have dried up.

The spark of life in VWWE has faded and I must confess, some of my own passion has been killed recently.

For many years those of us who remember the Monday Night Wars, of which there are precious few, have lamented the way of VWWE in this modern era, how it lacks a certain something, for too long we have let this go on, allowed these dips in fortune and allowed the product to be hurt. It is time in 2009, to act.

In 2002 VWWE revolutionized this business, we fought a justified and right war against FWC and won, we became the dominant force.

In 2003 we fought again from a position of strength this time, we consolidated that position and yet in 2004, we collapsed in turmoil.

In 2005 we rose again, this time revolutionizing the business on the Internet, moving to the web, many would claim that we stepped up one more gear at WrestleMania 23 to be where we are now.

In 2009 however, we come close to the collapse of 2004.

What we must do is simple... we must make radical and sweeping changes on a par with the debut of VWWE in 2002 and the move to the web in 2005.

Therefor I present.... VWWE 3.0

VWWE 3.0 will take the "Virtual WWE" experience to a new level of realism, interactivity and new generation experience.

In the past seven years the World at large and that of professional wrestling has changed inexorably, while VWWF was a product of the George Bush era, the era of Steve Austin, The Rock and Kurt Angle, today VWWE is challenged with making VWWE relevant and up to date with the Obama, Cena and Orton era, an era of new technologies, of lower attention spans and soundbite TV. This is the era where 30 second Youtube clips and TMZ are more used than established news and entertainment sources such as CNN and MTV, the era where the iPhone and other new generation phones, instant communication and 24/7 entertainment are the way forward. VWWE must meet this challenge on a technological front but also must meet the challenge of it's internal problems.

Therefore I present, VWWE 3.0 - The 10 point plan. All points will be expanded upon at length in a moment.

1] All members of VWWE are hereby released from their contracts.

2] All VWWE staff barring myself are hereby released from their contracts.

3] ECW on SCi-Fi is canceled

4] WWE SmackDown has been re-commissioned

5] The length of Raw and SmackDown will be far shorter than normal

6] VWWE will produce highlights "videos"

7] VWWE's on screen content is changing

8] Two spin-off sites have been commissioned - BSTorch, Virtual Wrestling Observer

9] VWWE must, as a site, update for 2009

10] The debut of an official VWWE farm system

All members being "released" is nothing to be alarmed about, and does not affect No Way Out, its simply the easiest way to get from A to B. There are some characters, and in fact members, who do not belong on that roster and also there are several individuals who are absent. Those still in VWWE will confirm their membership. It's two characters (tag team counts as one), one for each brand. You CANNOT select what brand you are on. All VWWE staff being released likewise is simply the easiest way to get from one place to another with minimum fuss, I'll be appointing and reappointing staff throughout the day. This is an opportunity for all VWWE members to speak up about characters, who they really want to be, whether they're really happy with who they have, look to the future. VWWE will accept, in reason, anybody you wanna be.

VWWE will also look toward implementing that, just for fun, contract system also.

Raw and SmackDown will from now on have a three man writing team, one of them head writer, the other two working with him, six writers in all. All those interested, say so in the chat. And be realistic, these are the two biggest shows in the business, the best of the best write them.

Cutting the shows down in length is essential, particularly match wise. WWE in 2009 only broadcast matches roughly 2 minutes long and have one longer match on the show like MVP/Orton for example, they don't have 6 10 minute matches. I will not speak for SmackDown, but I can assure you my Raw will be segment driven, will be short, will be quick, impact TV (no TNA reference intended). I'd STRONGLY advise SmackDown keep the same rough length.

The highlights "videos" will be each shows key 6 or 8 segments condensed into 30 second quick read segments for posting on the site like WWE's Raw/SD highlight videos they have. This will allow those who have short time or miss the show to read what happened and mean that everybody gets a good overview of what's going on throughout the show instead of some who maybe only read their segments or matches etc.

VWWE's on screen content will be taking the more mature outlook that last weeks Raw did, some people feel it over stepped the bounds in a few places... good Grin controversy creates cash. Adult? yes. Attitude? no. VWWE advocated it earlier in the year, going for that Triple H/Orton style feel... this transition will be completed after NWO.

Also in terms of content, VWWE is to start concentrating equally on "offscreen character". Industry News has bee popular ever since 2002 and I believe that opening two new sites that will be controlled by the Raw and SD creative teams, will allow even more depth to this aspect of VWWE. The characters will be fully rounded out with on and offscreen personas and add a new dimension of depth. New blogs and Universe content must be strongly encouraged.

VWWE.com has essentially changed very little except in terms of look since 2005, I feel we must ensure that there is at least on update per day and implement all possible new forms of media, from Youtube to Twitter, not only does it expose VWWE to a wider audience it also shows all new members that VWWE is something special.

The level of the newbies and their lack of respective talent is alarming but the newbies also add something to the chat, posts and easily mockable status. It would be a shame to not keep them. Therefore, VWWE will debut Virtual Florida Championship Wrestling for selected new members and also members of low ability, of inexperience, who cannot commit to VWWE full time etc. Details to be released Sunday.

Announcements
May 2, 2009

A few days ago i promised that there would be some announcements into what you can expect from VWWE post-WrestleMania, so... here ya go.

Over the six months to a year, VWWE has looked to evolve away from the original web incarnation of the fed into a new era by promoting the New Generation on our shows and implimenting a few new innovations in terms of site content and marketing, using places such as Twitter for instance.

In 2009 VWWE will take this to the next level and here's a few of the idea's we've been having.

-VWWE will further expand into the area of differing content delivery, hopefully finally implimenting VWWE on the iPhone, the VWWE Live audio show, promo videos etc

-VWWE will produce highlights of it's shows for those who miss the live broadcast or have only a short time to read. We will break down 8 key segments/matches into 250-500 word pieces. VWWE will hope to offer faster paced content, quicker and faster than currently.

-We will reorganize the VWWE staff this weekend.

-We will produceTWO shows following WrestleMania and eachshow will have it's own exclusive creative and writing team, there will be one lead writer and two sub-writers to each show, six in all. Each writer will be asigned a task that they agree they can manage per week, eg - 1 match etc.

-Two related sites will be created that will promote VWWE, both based around the Industry news, more on these soon. Creative report and new writing positions will be available.

There's a load of other ideas as well but that's all for now :D

There will be big news toay concerning the future direction of VWWE. Expect us to release a full outline of where we will be taking the company post-WrestleMania 25, i'm sure you'll find many of our plans exciting and look forward to them as we are doing.

Look for that around 8pm UK Time, 3pm ET

Next Raw Update
April 18, 2009

Raw should be up Monday, i'm a little behind and anybody with time to write a match would be great... and may even get a sexual favor.

The show isn't my best either :( so don't expect us to follow last weeks greatness lol

Welcome to Brandon aka MVP

Get a Look at Greatness
April 12, 2009

Firstly... welcome back Stu :D

Also welcome back Nik :D

We'll talk today on WrestleMania i hope.

I'm also pleased with the absolute greatness of chat this week... some posts have been legendary, hence why i'll have to restart the "post Hall of Fame" for the best. Watch out for it :D

Expect some more cool chat stuff, i should have the badges done asap

The ECW card is now up also, sorry for any delay

You'll also see some new VWWE teasers where the adverts usually are on the right of the site, all these tease future events. Ive promised a title shot to whoever can work out what they all mean lol

It Was Hell... Getting to Heaven
April 7, 2009

First of all i'd like to apologize for the lack of site updates recently but i was working on the Raw that went up on Sunday which was of a PPV length, after a well deserved rest Monday... expect a series of updates throughout the day in all sections including the roster.

Raw and ECW went up on Sunday, thanks to all those involved and congratulations to the the new Champions.

Expect Raw and ECW cards latter today also.

Now...

WrestleMania weekend :)

I'm not going to give a review of WrestleMnaia here as i'll save that for a blog later but i just want to congratulate all those who posted and were present at least for a little while on Sunday. After a stunning full 24 hour posting session, 7am Sunday to 7am Monday, taking in VWWE ECW and Raw and WrestleMania itself, we managed to making an unbeatable 2,550 posts, our previous best being 1750 on that famous VWWE Quiz night last year. We beat the record by a whole 500 posts, the record being broken fittingly during Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker.

Special commendations go to all those who gave intelligent analysis during WrestleMania - Sam, Jon, Tony, those who provided the amusement, you know who you are, thanks to Mickie for helping us break the 2,500 barrier with mere seconds to spare... even if the thought of vibrating pokemon will not leave my mind for days,

A legendary day for VWWE, WWE and the chatroom.

Here to breaking the 3,000 barrier next year *raises a glass of Red Bull and coke*

The Road Often Travelled
March 25, 2009

Raw went up live at 8pm on Monday and has no been archived for those who missed it.

Its come to my attention that some of our newer members are not reading Raw, something that is essential. If it's too much, you should at least read the important sections, not reading it at all = unacceptable.

The roster will be updated before weekend, some bios like John Cenas will be updated, others like RVD will be added and the ECW section will be added.

On the subject of ECW as you will all know by now, Stu tendered his resignation from VWWE and ECW. If he's reading this, i reach out to him and ask him to rejoin us and make know any issues. We're on the most important road to WrestleMania ever, the biggest show of all time. I'm sure you want to be on that show mate and should you return later in the year, it'll always be a show you regret missing. Give us a shout :)

The new Raw card will be up later this evening, i'll announce it in chat.

Welcome back Joe and Gary also :D

03/20/09
Start Me Up
March 20, 2009

Well we're back, there'll be a full update and you can expect Raw on Monday. While i'm sure many of you were losing patience with VWWE, i think this short break may have done many other, myself included, the World of good.

So get ready, cause Raw'll be awesome Monday :D and watch out for updates the the roster and Universe later today, thanks for sticking with us.

Andrew "Test" Martin

1975 - 2009

VWWE was saddened to larn of the passing of Andrew Martin, perhaps better known as Test yesterday. Test's passing at the unt8imely age of just 33 is another grim reminder of the sad toll that the business has witnessed over recent years.

While never possibly achievling the levels of fame many believed he would in the late 90s, Test however carved out an interesting career with angles ranging from the unforgetable Stephanie McMahon wedding and feud with Shane to Testicles, T&A and his ECW run.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP Test

02/10/09 c
Plagiarism 101 (1 of 3)
February 10, 2009

Last year we had a vision and that was of a brighter 2009 and while the year has produced two shows and isn't yet a total disaster, things have not being going as we planned.

The chat has been empty, the shows produced not quite up to expectations and the one great show that would have been up, tonight's episode of Raw, is locked on the hard drive of a laptop that I accidentally destroyed. Through mismanagement and a collective lack of input in a great many quarters we face a genuine crisis. An atmosphere of resignation and defeat has ran around VWWE from management down to the rookies.

I in particular have felt the gathering clouds of frustration and despair set in where VWWE is concerned, my time limited and my interest dwindling. But on Saturday I witnessed something, a spirit that lurks deep in the heart of VWWE, a spirit of unity, of passion and of attitude, a spirit of comradery and sense that VWWE can be and is the greatest E-Fed in the World. I stood reinvigorated, an invigoration heightened by the plans the creative team concocted on Sunday. VWWE may stand before you today a shadow of its glorious self and in no way looking like it can rise to the heights we expected in December...

But gentlemen, we can rebuild it.

In the greatest hours of VWWE's peril, when I had resigned in 2002, when the site collapsed with hiugo and when FWC brought us to our knees, at these moments through our shared passion and skill, our friendship and unity we continued. We continued to a new high, a new moment that would echo through the ages and a new idea that would transform our community.

So it must be on this day with this generation of VWWE Superstars.

Last year VWWE's New Generation won a symbolic victory at the Survivor Series, the torch was passed from the VWWE Originals to the New Generation but in this time of crisis, rookie and veteran, star and jobber, past and present must work together hand in hand to revive our community and VWWE. Greatness is not our birthright, it is not a given, our greatness has been earned over seven years, it is a word that we can only apply to ourselves through our actions. Over those seven years we have walked a path of great highs and lows, a path that has sometimes not been an easy one, one not for those who would prefer to watch as other take the burden of responsibility for this E-Feds greatness. Rather VWWE was built by those willing to give creative input at so many levels, by those willing to work and those willing to talk, by those willing to take risks, those willing to offer up precious time and those willing to simply have some fun. In 2009, sometimes these individuals are hard to find.

But we've been here before, many times we've been here and won and more times than that we've been here and failed again. This time we cannot fail, this journey started in 2002 must continue, because VWWE looks into the abyss and one more failure may be our final one. It's time for us to stop with false promises, I know many of you will doubt what we can do, that there are many who question the scale of our ambitions and believe another failure is inevitable, maybe some part of me believes that too, but we have short memories. Was it not this E-Fed that started as one man with a vision, did we not start without a site, steal a chat room and as a rebel group take on all before us? didn't we win a Monday war together and stare down the enemies of every individual age. Produce seven WrestleManias and entertain hundreds of individuals over those years.

From now on I will offer no false hope or dogma, I offer the truth - a truth that shows that without work, we will fail.

It's time for us ALL to end the petty grievances and disputes that divide our community, I reach out in that spirit to Mike and Jon/Rhyno to return to the chat in friendship with those that they have disputes with, namely Gary and Jon. I will reach out to former members such as Daz, Psycho Joe, Nik and Fi and invite them to rejoin with us and begin an extensive advertising campaign the like never before seen in VWWE history.

Some ideas have already been implemented, the individual E-Mails brought some of the best ever promos, VECW is becoming a viable second brand and work has begun on VWWE latest spin off venture - VWWF. The past few days have also seen an improvement in chat attendance. But these victories are battles in a longer war.

A war where we will reinvigorate the chat, where we will bring in new members and recreate and reenergize the stale ones we have, where we will produce at least two shows a week and bring a creative and dynamic product suitable for 2009 to the table. Where we will create a website that will be used every day and where we will rise to new heights of entertainment every month.

I know that if at the end week, if every VWWE member can stand before themselves and say they did all they could for VWWE, then we will prosper. That's not a request for time or matches or promos, just for what you can each offer. Let it be said by the class of 2010, 2011 and 2012 that THEIR legends on this day, when tested, they refused to let the VWWE journey end, they did not turn back or falter.

Let me leave you with a misquote that harks back to the glory days of 2008 when the New Generation era ran high

"Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this VWWE: They will be met."

The Actual News (2 of 3)
February 10, 2009

As many of you will know after an accident involving a laptop and my dropping it, followed by comical attempts to fix the problem caused... I destroyed Raw. Or rather I locked it inside a laptop I cant access. Either day, its fucked and I need to start it all over again. Tragic as it was the best episode in a long time. It'll go up next Monday, same promos and card applies, I beg your patience.

In other news we've started a new fed, see 3 of 3 for news on that.

I also intend to start updating the site a lot more, to that end there will be updates every day

Raw on Mondays, ECW on Tuesdays, columns, features, all that jazz. Industry News will return of course but likely as a weekly feature and the WWE Magazine will start as a monthly thing as well.

I don't think ECW will be up tomorrow so expect a column by yours truly, on what... I've no idea lol

Just One More Thing (3 of 3)
February 10, 2009

Details on the new Fed then.

The new Fed ISN'T a new fed, there's no site, news, roster etc which is realistic as this Fed is set in 1985, no Internet as we know it. Nope, Al Gore hadn't had that brainfart yet. The Classics on Demand page on VWWE.com will be where everything goes however.

The "Fed" starts in 1985 and every 12 weeks advances one year, one week = one year. So in 12 weeks it becomes 1986, then 87, 88 etc all the way up to February 14, 2002 when VWWE was born.

The fed will be referred to as VWWF.

The aim of the show is to create a complete canon, a VWWE history from the start. It will show every era - Hulkamania, Kliq, attitude, all major events like the Invasion will be played out, careers like those of Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels will start in the opening matches, rise to become superstars and then fall into nothingness, we'll see how Nightmare, Mr Showtime etc debuted, we'll change history and have Flair in his prime in the WWF.

What would have happened had Hogan and Flair faced off at WrestleMania in their primes? we're going to find out.

The basis for this is - if VWWE had existed in 1985 or whenever.... what would it have been like?

To keep the realism, only characters in the NWA/AWA/WWF at the time will be allowed, later WCW and ECW being added, as each new year comes I'll put up a list of new characters available so people can change, eg, Joe wants to become Brian Pillman.

Outside influences will give "feeling" to the show - eg, music, movies, television and political references.

This will be the GTA: Vice City of E-Feds or for our British members, the Ashes to Ashes of E-Feds :) Until the 90s of course lol

The first show will be WrestleMania 1 followed by a string of SNMEs and then WrestleMania 2 from 1985 and 1986 respectively.

The roster stands at

Hulk Hogan (reserved)
Mr T
Terry Funk
Randy Savage
Dusty Rhodes
Ric Flair
Roddy Piper
Bob Orton
Rick Rude
Jake Roberts
Tony Atlas
Rocky Johnson
The nWd
Hector, Chavo and Mundo Guerrero

This is a good roster so far but we need to expand it by around 8 more members

We're accepting created characters, and any of the following real ones

Abdullah the Butcher
Carlos Colon
Greg Valentine
Ricky Steamboat*
The Brisco Brothers Jack and Gerry
Arn Anderson*
Tully Blanchard
Harley Race
The Assassin

Hard Times
February 5, 2008

Things have been quiet in VWWE lately and although we've got two shows up in two weeks and a third on the horizon, the chats been dead and there has been little spark to anything.

With VWWEs 7th anniversary on the horizon... not a landmark like 5 or 10 i know.. but still lol, this will change

I've a few plans to create that spark, being online more and updating more obviously, but something Jon said made me think last night, he mentioned Joey Styles and WWE.com, how he now used the site because of the changes Joey has implimented.

I think we can do something similiar. If we have an update to the site everyday and some feature or other, people will know we're not dead (Joe was wondering lol) and it'll keep their interest all week long, give them something to talk about.

What i'm talking here is features like Santino's Casa, maybe a Power 25, features, news, all the stuff WWE.com has and more.

So... we're looking for writers, get applying :D

Getting It Up
January 30, 2009

Raw's up on site and there's  a few other updates, the frontpage will be updated later today.

We're working  a new card system from this week

We'll be having a WWE style preview on the site where a few details are released but the rest of the show and events will be a surprise for the night.

Each individual member however will be E-Mailed a nd told their match and what they should promo about if they do promo.

The preview will be up this morning and the show is scheduled for Monday live boadcast, if anybody can do matches for the show, that'd be awesome.

Meet the Team
January 17, 2009

I'll not go into or review the debate we all had in the locker the other day as most people were there or saw it but i will recap the outcomes of all the brainstorming sessions and the ideas we've come up with.

Firstly, i'd like to draw your attention to the infomation section and the "VWWE Wellness Policy" section

This is nothing to do with drugs, so you're all safe there lol

What it is is our new system of talent discipline. Over the past six months we've had complaints about the behavior of stars and of people being absent, well all this covers exactly what will be happening in those situations from now on including the new strike policy.

The VWWE Wellness policy applys to ALL staff and talent contracted to VWWE. It does not however apply to individuals not on the roster or in other E-Feds. I expect all talent to be familiar with this policy as it will be enforced and ignorance will no no defense.

Secondly, i'd like to take the opertunity to welcome Brian Kendrick, Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes :)

Third off i hope you like the site updates, they took ages. There would have been more, i was going to create the first WrestleMania 25 video but my softwares still fucked up so it'll have to wait a little while.

Next - the new staff stsyem.

It was decided that there will now be a professional management structure and creative team within VWWE, those appointments and their roles will be defined in a moment but fuirst i'd like to ally some fears.

Whats been created here is neither a Kliq nor a "junta", i still retain ALL of my powers undiluted as does Sam, it is still us who will make the final decisions on everything. No person appointed this week has the power to discipline, suspend or fire you without first gaining approval from myself. I'd like to assure all that VWWE won't accept abuse of power and such ction will be considered a violation of the Wellness policy.

What this system will do is this, it will allow creative ideas to come from new sources to freshen up shows, it will allow a lessening of the workload for myself and in turn this means i can concentrate on the site and writing and also will hopefully not burn out so fast.

If there are further questions, i will be in chat throughot the day but let me now recap the positions, aranged into three departments.

Management

Chairman of the Board of Directors: Mick
Duties include the overseeing of VWWE.com, writing Raw and liasing with all other departments to ensure the smooth running of VWWE, all major decisions go through the Chairman.

Chief Executive Officer: Sam
Duties include filling the Chairmans shoes when absent, the upkeep of Waptopia and technical assistance on VWWE.com. The CEO has fingers in many pies including talent relations and discipline.

Executive Vice President of Creative Development and Operations: Nath
Head of the Creative team, it is his duty to come up with new ideas, angles, characters and liase with other members of the creative heam.

Executive Vice President of Global Media: Jon
It is his duty to, like the head of the team, come up with new angles and ideas but also he will be enlisted to write matches on Raw when necissicary.

Executive Vice President and General Counsel: Gary
Offering general advice and handling "the heavy work", it is his job to generally do the things that VWWE cannot do for public relations reasons. Think of this man as essentially Chief of Staff, here to protect the interests of the Chairman, CEO and VWWE and control the flow of infomation.

Talent Relations

Senior Vice President of Talent Relations: Neal
Duties include answering questions of roster members, liasing with the Wellness policy administrator and bringing concerns about individual or collective talent to the notice of both the Wellness Administrator and management. Will be expected to  provisionally hire new members who enter the locker and pass on news of releases.

Wellness Policy Administrator: Stu
Duties are to keep reference of those in breach of the Wellness Policy, keeping record of those who did not guess for a show and those who have not been active in the chat. His duties also include liasing with the Head of Talent Relations on matters of behaviour and the Wellness Policy. Warnings maybe issues at his disgression, all strikes must be discussed with the Head of Talent Relations and the passed up to the CEO and Chairman for approval.

Creative

Editor of WWE Magazine: Matt
Publishing the magazine once a month, the Editor will be a skilled writer and creative talent.

The rest of the creative process is made up from  members above. All decisions will be made by the Chairman and the CEO but below that point the creative team will consit of the Heads of the Creative Team and the Head of Global Media as well as two special advisors

Advisor to the Creative Team: Joe
Advisor to the Creative Team: Steve

Management Structure:

The Chairman of the Board is in supreme charge of all company affairs, the final decisions on all major matters will go through him, in his absense, the CEO will fufill the duties of Chairman. Below those two positions, the three Executive Vice Presidents deal with the day to day running of the company.

Chairman
|
CEO
|
Three Executive Vice Presidents

--------
Soon i'd like to add a marketing department, enlisting a few people who'll spread the link on forums and get people to join, maybe a job Nathan could take on? get back to me mate.

This new structure is effective, like the Wellness Policy, from Monday.

I'm a little concerned that the staff roster is now very large so there maybe some trimming after we see how it goes, i'm hoping to meet with as many of the new team as possible on MSN on Wednesday.

Will This Even Be Read?
January 9, 2009

Its come to my attention that for reasons best known to themselves a great number of VWWE members dont actually read the news, hence the stupid questions they ask in chat that have long been answered here.

And these people epect a push?

In other news, the Slammys still have a lot of guesses outstanding, so guess today please peeps

Expect the return of backstage/industry news after Raw on Monday.

Creative Control
January 8, 2009

I'm pleased to say that Sam and I had a good creative meeting yesterday, till my PC failed lol, a lot was discussed and i'm really pleased with a lot that was coming out from the run to WrestleMania 25.

If the following characters could make themselves known in chat today, that'd be awesome as we need to talk over character directions

- Warlord

- Scorpio

Can Steve also confirm his current position.

January 6, 2008

The big news first

We've taken the decision to "skip" Survivor Series

This is so we can start 2009 with no backlog of shows and a fresh slate as all angles were ending at that PPV.

What i'm going to do is write a completely creative report to explain what happened, no guesses needed and NO titles will of course change hands.

I know some will be disapointed that the year ends that way and there will be no wargames but if we're to have the great 2009 everybodys predicting that started so well yesterday, it must happen and we cant get behind.

The Raws, including Tribute to the Troops, will also not happen but will also be recapped in full. Tribute to the Troops will of course be done with the guesses you provided, so the title matches on that show are wholey legitimate and recognized.

This means a new Raw card will go up today as will this report.

Raw, like ECW, will be a lot shorter and faster paced in 2009. We've come to a decision to start our own creative style and i think you'll see major changes right from the off next Monday in style and content.

This is also probably the last time it will be mentioned here but WapWWE and VECW updated

A final note on WapWWE. It seems that we have a rival site, getting far more hits than we are at the moment (due to longevity) but a vastly inferior product. They've also made the mistake of insulting WapWWE and removing my links from their guestbooks.....

Oh dear :)

We also welcome MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTER KENNEDY

Down to Bid'ness
January 5, 2009

Now the first full week of 2009 is here you can expect full resumption of VWWE and i'm sure VTNA. VECW is now fully operational also, the news and roster there has been updated.

I suggest all members check that out as many VWWE characters have een moved there. As i've said in chat, this is not a demotion. Its a chance for rookies to learnm the game, win titles, get their character over and get a history before coming back to VWWE with momentum and foir the veterans its a chance to freshen up and try something new, get a second wind and have that proverbial Indian summer in the latter stages of their career.

Wap WWE has been majorly updated and it appears that we have a rival for our desired position as biggest wrestling site on WAP, more on this in the chat... but we could be in for a mini-site war there. Just like old times :)

PWI Awards were released last night and are now up in the history section

Expect the World Tag Titles to have the match links added later today, expect the EHW Titles to be added to 24/7 and the frontpage to be updated.

Tomorrow will bring a MAJOR update on the next show

We're back....
January 4, 2009

2009 will mark a year of change for VWWE. This is the year that VWWE rises to the heights promised by the boom period last year. To do this, we'll bring you shows more often, more chat and importantly, new members.

To this end, we intend to, in stages, increase VWWE's expose once again. This first place we'll do this? where else, the mobile Internet/WAP

The mobile Internet has a new lease of life with most phones now coming fully enables while countries in Africa and Asia seem to be embracing WAP, peperonity simply full now of sites from our Asian friends in places such as India and Sri Lanka. A brief search on peperonity (formerly Mywap) and I've seen several sites with VWWEs link on, proving that exposure and interest is there. This is a market VWWE can tap back into.

http://tagtag.com/wap_wwe long time members will know what this is instantly, it's a mobile WWE news site, uniquely designed for cellular devices. It's WapWWE. While most of our own members will get their news from the Internet, I hope this will attract new members to the chat from our old resource WAP. The hits the site has so far received are encouraging.

http://tagtag.com/vecwwrestling this is an E-Fed. The concept is that it's old school. The site is what you'd expect from the golden period. The results will be of a similar length. VECW isn't about flashy sites or graphics, its about substance, great characters and angles and getting people talking in chat. This is almost a retro-fed in its style. I'll be drafting several people from VWWE, old members who need their characters freshening up, rookies who are not yet over and original characters such as Sandman and Tommy Dreamer, controlled by their original handlers. VECW has its own news where you can read more.

There will be a full update of VWWE's news tomorrow and the PWI award winners will be announced tonight live in the chat, for now, please enjoy my review of 2008

Change We Can Believe In: 2008 in Review

Much like 2007, 2008 was a year that promised so much come January 1st and eventually delivered great highs and even greater lows. It was nothing if not a unique year in VWWE's history and it was certainly interesting. So, in what will possibly be one of the longest news pieces ever, lets take a month by month look at VWWE, WWE and the World at large.

January started much like this year with the launch of two new sites,  VWWF and VWCW.

VWWF was a company that burned brightly for 3 shows before getting buried under the immense work that goes into VWWE. I feel sure that Sam is already thinking "so will VECW" but I think he's wro.... ah who am I kidding, he's like Marty in Frasier, always right about the grand plans of Frasier and Niles being stoopid and smug when they inevitably go wrong. But hey, E-Feds wouldn't be right without me coming up with a great plan at least twice a year and failing miserably, right? lol

VWCW never actually even got started. Originally we appointed Nathan to run it after deciding against VOVW, the company possibly being too bi to be realized and another of those aforementioned grand plans that was always destined to fail. But this particular fail had a silver lining in the fact that it brought Nathan into the backstage fold, a position he would make the most of later in the year.

Chat was almost empty for most of January, prompting the first of many diatribes in the news that encouraged usage a little, in brighter news WWE's Royal Rumble event from  Madison Square Garden was a good show that however left a sour taste with many as John Cena made his surprise comeback to win the Royal Rumble match and gain a title shot at the forthcoming WrestleMania 24. VWWE meanwhile saw the "death" of Eric Bischoff as his limo was blown apart in circumstances unknown.

In the real world the month also saw the tragic death of Heath Ledger who would go on to steal the show later this year in July, starring in Batman: The Dark Knight, one of the most talked about movies I've seen in the locker. A almost lock for the Oscar in 2009. The big movie of January? undoubtedly the excellent Cloverfield from JJ Abrahams, the same guy who brought us the genius of LOST and will reinvent Star Trek for the big screen later this year.

By February there was only one topic of conversation (from me at least) the Giants defeating the Patriots 17-14 in one of the greatest ever Superbowls and one of the all time great upsets in sports. Apparently there was some kind of Presidential primaries going on but that really got swamped under the glorious Giants victory. Which of course will be repeated in 2009. While spoken of quite often, the broadcast of this game on the BBC seemed to make Football a new semi-regular topic in VWWE, something that certainly wasn't being complained about.

Besides the presidential primaries, where I was at this point supporting Republican Rudy Guilliani, the month also saw the resignation of Fidel Castro as President of Cuba, the defeat of General Musharaff in the Pakistani elections and the first major stirrings in the big story of the year, the economic recession. Toward the end of the month the British government nationalized the Northern Rock bank.

WWE meanwhile continued the build to WrestleMania with Ric Flair on his "lose a match and retire" angle, Cena, Orton and Triple H engaging in excellent exchanges and Floyd Mayweather and Big Show taking the media's attention, notably the excellent nose breaking and Mayweather tossing incidents, while Undertaker and Edge stole the show on SmackDown. VWWE was still in a bit of a rut, the Royal Rumble not yet up....

However it finally was in March, the show being well received with John Cena defeating Hulk Hogan in a very memorable encounter and Vince winning the Rumble in what some called the best Rumble match of all. It was certainly a PPV I personally enjoyed and it set things up perfectly for what was to come.

On the 30th WWE brought to us one of the greatest WrestleMania's on them all as 74,365 packed the Citrus Bowl. It was an emotional rollercoaster, I don't mind admitting there was a tear in my eye as Ric Flairs career came to end in one of the great matches of the decade. It was a perfect example of psychology and storytelling from the two greatest - HBK and the Naitch. The words "I'm sorry, I love you" and that final Sweet Chin Music will be watched for decades to come as will the classy send of Ric got the following night on Raw. Although WrestleMania may have become centered around Naitch, there was a lot more here to make this show great including an excellent MITB match, the lockers hatred of CM Punk about to hit full force. Floyd Mayweather put in an unexpectedly great performance to down Big Show and Undertaker deservedly got the Main Event as he won the World Title for the second year in a row at WrestleMania.

In the World, Israel launched airstrikes on Gaza (Every year... lol) and for some reason they bothered to have elections in Zimbabwe.

Another lull for VWWE followed in both April and May where at one point I did begin to doubt whether WrestleMania 24 would even go up. It was a busy time for me personally offline, quite frankly, I'd just met my better half and we were fucking like rabbits. Story of the year :)

On May 12 nearly 70,000 were killed by an earthquake in China and that's about it, these two months really presented very little of note really (beyond the fucking). WWE was decent, Raw in particular with the continuing feuds between Cena/Orton/JBL and Triple H and the beginnings of one of the highlights of the year in HBK/Batista that finally led to HBK/Jericho at Judgment Day.

April was THEE month for video gaming though, both Assassin's Creed and GTA IV released, which caused the chat to die for a week while everybody did it lol, it was the first game I've bought on release day in years and I managed to get the big boxed one with all the various other shit in. Still haven't finished it :(

June 7 also marked to resignation from the Presidential race of Senator Hilary Clinton leaving Barack Obama finally officially the Democratic nominee for President.

It was certainly VWWE's month, the month that the mini-boom period began. Nathan was appointed SmackDown writer around the same time that WrestleMania 24 was released with a plan to go old school and slit toe roster in place. As always, I was nervous about WrestleMania, already a week late and on the night itself, the site fucked up and it had to be pasted in two segments... but the reception was exceptional, certainly at least on a par with WrestleMania 23. Nathan's John Cena defeated Neal's Randy Orton in the main event, Undertaker downed Doomsday inside HIAC in what Sam called one of his favorite ever matches and Ric Flair lost to the man himself, Michael Shane, in a wrestling classic. And that's just off the top of my head. It was an eventful show that innovated with things such as the soundtrack and from top to bottom showed quality in every match. One of my favorite ever PPVs.

June also saw something else released that would have implications for VWWE and the locker - Viva La Vida, Coldplay's latest album. Although I was slightly disappointed, not feeling it was up to the standard of X&Y, its without doubt the most referenced album in VWWE history, everywhere from the theatrics performed in chat to references on that FWC show and VWWE Raw. The culmination of which will be the appearance of Coldplay at VWWE's WrestleMania 25. Oh yes :)

We were able to use the momentum from WrestleMania to springboard us to that boom period in July and August, Nathan's SmackDown instantly over with the VWWE members as he produced quality show after quality show. These were the great days of 2008, when the chat became enraptured by VWWE, Mock The Week, Lab Rats, filth and theatrics. Revelations were also shouted from the top of high buildings as I revealed myself to be a changed man, alienating most of the locker in the process who believed I'd turned into some kind of Guardian reader, Morten particularly horrified as I announced my vegetarianism. Alas, the ban on Bacon and Beer in the locker was doomed to failure. We also discovered that Gary's middle name is Percy and he had an embarrassing incident with a toy car. Not to mention the tins and our drive to democratize the locker, which by years end had amazingly worked with AKM and others chastised for comments that would have been allowed to pass in years past. We even put Kyle on trial lol

With the returns of Rob, Joe, Tony and so many others, the summer of 2008 was a classic VWWE period, Jon aka Jeff Hardy making his mark, David aka CM Punk somehow writing himself into VWWE history with the Intercontinental Championship and the rise of the New Generation all hot topics, Cena turning heel one of the classic VWWE moments. WWE gave us the very good SummerSlam with that great Hell in a Cell between Undertaker and Edge, a good match, amazingly, between Cena and Batista and Triple H somehow carrying Khali to a fine match.

In the World at large, Chelsea lost the Champions League final, which was months earlier but I forgot to mention it lol and they arrested Radovan Karadžic', a name that quickly was adopted by that Serbian fool who used to hang around chat. The Olympics from Beijing bored me to tears as they usually do so I'll barely pass comment on them, August rounding out with two tragedies in the shape of the Spanair air disaster and hurricane Gustav.

July and August also saw the release of some notable movies, the aforementioned Dark Knight.... and Mamma Mia, which I was forced to see. At gunpoint.... well... maybe I exaggerate. Alarmingly I found it quite enjoyable, which probably says something about my mental health to be honest. Though Tropic Thunder was out and that in my opinion made up for such ABBA related horrors. I Want To Believe, the return of The X Files was also out and although maybe a little disappointing considering some of the TV Shows best episodes, it was better than the first movie and it was awesome to see them back again. If there's one TV Show I'd like to come back, this is it.

Late as usual, SummerSlam went up in September and really marked the end of that boom period. SmackDown folded a few weeks later and at the event we saw Doomsday finally become World Champion and Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton in a match that was 3 years in the making. Unfortunately we also lost many of the members we'd seen return in 2008, Irish and Welsh Robs as well unfortunately as the legend himself Nik. As VWWE gained a World Champion so did WWE, Chris Jericho finally getting what he deserved as he won the World Title. Many would also say CM Punk got what he deserved as he was unceremoniously not even in the title match to lose the belt. Unforgiven was also the night that Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, the wrestler of the year in my opinion, had that excellent unsanctioned match.

Outside the World of wrestling, Hurricane season continued as Hurricane Ike killed 27 in the US, the turmoil in the financial markets suddenly got a whole lot worse as Lehman Brothers collapsed.

The financial crisis rumbled on in October as the 700 billion dollar bailout began to be formulated, the British Politburo used terrorist legislation against Iceland and their banks and in Geneva, a team of British and French scientists plotted to kill us all by turning on the Large Hadron Collider. Luckily, fate intervened and after an explosion that could potentially have blown the place sky high, they had to shut down till this year.

We're all going to die.

October also saw the release of High School Musical 3... something that just plain annoys me. 2008 was the year that people started to annoy me in the media with their sugar coated image. I'm talking Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers here. I fear this is the direction Vince McMahon wishes to take WWE. I can just see CM Punk, John Cena and Rey Mysterio standing alongside the Jonas Brothers to be honest. Still, at least I discovered Tokio Hotel in 2008... though Jon ranks them alongside such acts :(

He also doesn't like Coldplay. He is clearly the fool of 2008 lol

No Mercy was for the second year an excellent PPV from WWE, giving us Michaels/Jericho in a ladder match, Jeff Hardy vs Triple H in another awesome match from those two and Big Show/Undertaker. It's sad that Jericho had to drop the belt to Batista and then take it back again a few days later just so he'd take the fall to Cena instead of Batista. But at least Jericho got two reigns out of it. Cyber Sunday was another good PPV but a replay almost of No Mercy with Bog Show/Taker again, this time in a casket match as well as Triple H/Hardy. But at least we got to see Honky, falling victim to another one of the stars of the year in Santino Marella and his honk-a-meter.

It was about this time that a certain Silent Assassin made his return...

Beset by idiots from all sides, no names mentioned, I'm sure they think I'm referring to everybody else but them, the return of SA was a final straw. Offensive, racist, insulting and clamoring for power... he had to go. A reunion of the Kliq was inevitable and SA was finally put to rest by a Mick/Sam/Tone combo.

In November some guy called Barack Obama was in the news. November 4 seeing a moment that will live with me as long as I live and will echo in history - the election of President Obama. A lot has been said on this, in the chat and news, I really don't think it needs summing up again, but this was truly a new dawn for the United States and as 2009 begins with more economic meltdown and the annual war in the middle east, we need that change more than ever. I stayed up to watch and will never forget the scenes of jubilation and that first speech. I believe I developed politically in 2008, from supporting Rudy Guilliani on his absurdly fought campaign, somewhat out of loyalty to my homeboy to briefly supporting John McCain to becoming a believer in the message of change that we desperately need. The turning point was probably President Obama's speech in Berlin in front of 100,000 that made up my mind.

After a proposed leader of the Republican party released a song called "Barack The Magic Negro" in December, I think its clear my switch was correct. The Republican party lost a lot of support in 2008, their ever more far-right wing policies, summed up perfectly in the abhorrent and idiotic figure of Sarah Palin. While the religious zealots who advocated a regression of racial, sexual and human rights, they will continue to lose support.

Sarah Palin though... definite winner of the 2008 Idiot of the Year award. She seemed to be a stereotype of what many people see Americans as being, idiotic, trigger happy, religious nut with a stupidly named family and no idea what birth control is. Seriously, if she'd weighed 300lbs she'd have been a pure stereotype.

It was this same week that change also came to VWWE in the shape of a new rival - VTNA. I was impressed with Jon's writing already from his promos but the dark match he sent tipped it. It was a risk to appoint Jon to the role I think but all doubts were erased about his suitability from the go with some fine shows under his belt and importantly, he got the locker talking about it. It was kinda like appointing an unknown actor to replace David Tennant in Doctor Who (hopefully that'll work as well as appointing Jon did lol) First though... the small matter of SA, one screwjob and a final farewell. VTNA started with a bang.

I was let down by WWE's Survivor Series, in fact, it sucked big time. Cena returning to just win the title like that made Jericho look a schmuck. The "match" between Kozlov and Triple H was the worst thing I saw in WWE all year and the 5 on 5s weren't anything special either. The only highlight was Edge winning the title. Hopefully VWWE's show in November provided some contrast with the CENA/DD unification match, Nightmare cashing in his MITB case, the live vote and a general good show I thought with some fun elements and some incidents that were memorable.

Wasn't at all a good month in the real world either, the end saw the Mumbai terror attacks with nearly 200 killed and also the release of Quantum of Solace. If I was being insensitive, I'd say I didn't know which was worse. Which I am.

As for December, it was really the least eventful of the year. VWWE wasn't doing much of anything and WWE were building to a meh Armageddon. Until Israel decided to turn Gaza into a parking lot, only Jeff Hardy finally winning the WWE Championship was notable..

Well... apart from the FWC comeback. That was anything but dull. But when you have rampaging dinosaurs, men flinging shit at each other, Bruce Forsyths death and fatalities with giblets, this is what you have to expect, along of course with the annual row between Gary/Fi and Mike that ends in the latters disappearance from chat.

Somehow, this show rounded of 2008 and in many ways, its absurdity summed up the year lol

So that was 2008, all the VWWE happenings, WWE events and worldwide news. No doubt I've forgotten a lot, all the little events in the locker that go into making it such a memorable place to be. I've probably forgotten some major events too.. alas, Nath losing his virginity is not one :(  still... you HAVE to lose it this year mate, the odds are on your side.

Here's to 2009, lets hope its half as eventful as 2008 with another healthy dose of war, famine, pestilence, bombings, economic turmoil, idiots in the locker, theatrics, filth, shock returns, burial of fools, a great WrestleMania and maybe... just maybe... a few more shows than last year.

Welcome to 2009.
