Ryan Scott McKenzie started training to be a wrestler at the FWA academy in Portsmouth in 1996, in the next two years Ryan rose through the ranks of FWA to become a popular mid carder becoming the FWA flyweight champion on the way

early 1998 Ryan came to the attention of the ECW and was trained by Tommy Dreamer in his famous hardcore style, teaming with Dreamer throughout the year there, Ryan was soon traded to the WWF in a talent swap and spent a few months there and was classed as a flop after playing a rookie wrestler who wanted to be hardcore in an angle with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk which soon bombed

an uneventful end of the year saw Ryan unemployed and heading to Japan`s New Japan Pro Wrestling to be packaged as a masked wrestler named Ultra Dragon (a gimmick based loosely on Ultimo Dragon) and placed into the Super J Cup Tournament which he won in a fantastic match with Jushin Liger with Ryan being unmasked and busted open by Liger after his alter ego Kishin Liger broke loose.

Ryan spent the rest of 99 in japan and was making occasional appearances there as well as back in his native Scotland with the newly formed British Championship wrestling where he won the BCW championship against his friend James Steele, throughout 2000, 01, 02 and 03 he spent his time between BCW and New Japan Wrestling and his training with Keiji Mutoh where he learned most of his moveset including Muta`s shining wizard and flashing elbow, around 2002 Ryan started spending less time in BCW and started wrestling in the new Tennessee based promotion NWA-TNA and with Pennsylvania based ring of honor he spent his time between both promotions winning NWA-TNA`s x division championship and the ring of honor pure wrestling championship, early 2005 called and Ryans wildest dreams were answered as WWE finally came back to the TV screens after a short hiatus and a place on the roster came calling for him, his first port of call was a massive feud with Dr SmackDown with the feud ending abruptly after doc`s retirement , Ryan finally found success in 2006 when he was paired with longtime friend James Steele to form team Scotland , winning the tag team titles from MNM at Saturday Nights Main Event losing them at WrestleMania that year with Ryan losing the plot and attacking his friend James Steele locking the two in a bitter feud that continues
