Tag Team Turmoil to unify the WWE and World Tag Team Championships
"Nathan James
very confident there folks as he should be. An interesting fact is that
Nathan James is undefeated in singles action here in WWE..." goes JR as
we return to the ring area
"Thats big Ross, Nathan James has been around a while now, used to
be a tag team specialist but even so thats impressive and i think
Batistas met his match here tonight"
The crowd rise to their feet our Our Lady Peace hits, the no
nonsense WWE Tag Team champions of Chris Benoit and Bryan Danielson
striding onto stage, belts over their shoulders
"Well here we go folks, first title match up of the evening and
what a match. The World tag team titles will be unified with the WWE
tag team titles creating the Undisputed World Tag Team Championship,
both sets of titles have an incredible history but tonight, it comes to
an end" Ross informs us as Benoit and American Dragon are announced
"Introducing first, representing Generation Next, the WWE Tag
Team Champions, Chris Benoit and American Dragon, Bryan Danielson"
Benoit and Dragon slide into the ring and parade the gold around to a big cheer, a lot of crowd respect for these two
"Chris Benoit and American Dragon getting the shock victory over
Scorpio and Juice a few weeks back, they´ve represented the WWE
Tag Team Titles with class in their dying days but tonight they have
one hell of a task if they´re to become Undisputed World Tag Team
Champions" observes JR as Benoit paces, ready to face their first
randomly picked opponents...
"EVOLLLLUTION" the crowd roar, rising to their feet as The Nature
Boy Ric Flair and Triple H stride out, Flair taking the lead in flowing
red robe.
"An unlucky draw for Evolution and The Champions. Flair can go
with the best of em but four more teams maybe just too much and the
champions could have done with less experienced opposition first out"
The fans bow to Flair, giving us WOO!s as he passes them, Triple H following behind
"The legendary Ric Flair still walking that aisle folks, an example
to many other talents in the vicinity" Ross clearly means Triple H as
the duo enters the squared circle, Flair giving us a strut before
removing his robe and handing it down to the timekeeper. American
Dragon steps out leaving Chris Benoit to start the match against Triple
H as Naitch also exits and the Referee Charles Robinson has the match
started.
Collar and elbow tie up, Benoit backs Trips into the corner -
scores with a knife edge chop, and a second, grabs the arm, Irish Whip,
reversed by Trips, sending Benoit across the ring. The Game moves
across, mounting Benoit for punchs and scoring with five before Chris
looks like hes going to get away. Trips moves him out of the corner,
another Irish Whip - facebuster to the knee on the rebound sending
Benoit staggering backward. American Dragon makes the blind tag and
unleashs on Trips with a flurry of rights sending him back against the
ropes, Irish Whip, The Game goes for the clothesline, ducked under by
Danielson who comes off the ropes on the other side - Triple H hits a
spinebuster and tags in Naitch to a huge pop and chorus of WOOO!s
Flair grabs the rising Dragon by the head pushing him back into
the corner where he hits a chop before grabbing Bryans arm, goes for
the Irish Whip, reversed by Danielson and Flair goes running into the
opposite corner, turning himself upside down and flying over onto the
apron as he does. Naitch quickly climbs the turnbuckle but the yo****
American Dragon is far faster and quickly runs up the cornerposts,
hooking Flair into the front face lock. The crowd gasp as Dragon goes
right up to the top rope, throws himself backward - superplex. Dragon
is back up instantly and climbs the same turnbuckle, measuring Flair
below. Danielson flys - and scores a homer with a flying headbut.
Dragon crawls across, hooks the leg - one, two, three, Evolution are
eliminated.
The nWo theme hits as the World Tag Team Champions Kevin Nash and
Scott Hall stroll down the aisle, an awesome combination in any event
not least after you´ve already fought a match points out Ross as
Nash climbs over the top rope.
Dragon charges at him - big boot right to the face as Nash sweeps
back his hair with a grin, Chris Benoit stepping through to ropes as
Scott Hall joins his partner. Benoit grabs Nash by the arm, Irish Whip
- scores with a back body drop as Hall takes a swing with a
clothesline, ducked by The Crippler who gets a waist lock as he comes
round behind - Release German Suplex. Benoit turns to the rising Nash,
gets a waist lock - hits Big Sexy with a Release German Suplex of his
own. American Dragon climbs on turnbuckle, Chris Benoit the other -
syncronised diving headbuts. Dragon covers Nash - one, two, three,
massive elimination in fantastic style, Nash and Hall with little
offense.
The crowd jeer as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers hits, Scorpio and
Juice on their way out. Benoit exits onto the apron as they advance
down the aisle, allowing himself to be tagged in as the legal man, good
tactics to keep them fresh in this match. Scorpio slides into the ring,
Juice waiting on the apron. Benoit has the advantage of Scorpio early,
hitting him with a knife edge chop, and a second into the ropes, Irish
Whip, Scorpio ducks under a clothesline, comes off the otherside -
takes down The Crippler with a shoulder block. Benoits up fast but
Scorpio has the arm, Irish Whip into the corner near Juice, runs at him
- Stinger Splash and a tag to Juice.
The big man climbs in as Benoit staggers forward out of the corner
- Big Boot. Quick cover - two count only. Juice moves to the back of
the rising Benoit, locking in a sleeper to the Generation Next man.
Benoit struggles on the canvas but the larger Juice is always going to
have the advantage, squeezing the life out of The Crippler. Chris goes
limp and the Referee moves in immediately, lifting the right arm - it
falls. The arm is lifted a second time - it drops. The arm goes up a
third time - and stays up to Juices shock. Benoit with a sudden rush of
energy getting to his feet, Benoit elbows Juice in the abdomen forcing
a break, Benoit switches to the back - German Suplex, the waistlock is
still in place - scores with a second, and a third rolling German taking him right into the corner - tag to American Dragon.
Dragon stalks Juice as he begins to rise, back to Danielson. As he
gets to his feet Bryan grabs him under the arms, looking for the Dragon
Suplex, can he get him over?... Yes, scores with a Dragon Suplex, into
the pin - one, two, three, massive pop as Scorpio and Juice are
eliminated. Benoit and Dragon exchange a quick handshake, their third
elimination complete. JR starts talking about what a massive feat it
would be to win the match after starting first. There are just two
teams left as the PA springs to life...
Its Brian Pillman and Psycho Joe to a good pop, the crowd liking this unbalanced combination.
Both Pillman and Joe slide into the ring prompting Benoit to enter,
the match yet again becoming a tornado affair. Joe goes after Dragon
and Pillman after Danielson, a smark dream match right there. The
Italian Joe lands big time rights on Benoit and Dragon is arm dragged
by Pillman. Irish Whip by both Joe and Pillman, looking to crash their
Generation Next opponents into each other but Benoit manages to
counter, sending Joe into American Dragon instead.
Both men stagger backward and Benoit quickly clotheslines out Joe
as Pillman clotheslines out American Dragon, possibly foreshadowing the
Royal Rumble match later.
Pillman and Benoit lock up, collar and elbow tie up, Pillman
backed into the corner - knife edge chop, and a second from the
exhausted Benoit. Chris grabs the arm, Irish Whip sends the Loose
Cannon into the opposite corner. Pillman quickly backs up the ropes as
Benoit approachs, goes for the flying crossbody - Benoit leaps aside
and grabs the arm in mid-air, going down to the canvas with Pillman -
Crossface applied... Pillman taps out.
Benoit breaks the hold as the crowd go wild, Benoit and Dragon
eliminating another team. The crowd jeer as the Stock Exchange bell
rings around the arena, Billy Gunn and The Machine striding out, John
Bradshaw Layfield at their side. Benoit approachs the ropes, ready to
face the Cabinet but makes an amazing mistake for a man of his
experience - turning his back on Brian Pillman.
The Loose Cannon scores with a low blow from behind, Benoit keels
over, Pillman spins him around - scores with a big time DDT as Machine
and Billy slide into the ring. Machine covers - One, Two, Three
"WHAT?....N..They...THEYVE WON IT, THEYVE WON IT KING" cries Ross as JBLs theme hits, the crowd jeering
"THIS IS THEFT, JBLS CABINET HAS WON AND DONE NOTHING" wails Ross
as Machine and Gunn embrace JBL, Joy Giovanni charging down the ramp to
celebrate with them
"This is an absolute travesty, Machine and Billy Gunn are a great
combination but they did absolutly nothing to deserve being Undisputed
World Tag Team Champions. Chris Benoit and Bryan Danielson were in this
match over fifteen minutes, right from the start and eliminated four
other teams. JBLs Cabinet have stolen the titles from Generation Next,
thats the fact of the matter" complains Ross as The Machine and Billy
Gunn hold aloft the historic World Tag Team Championship belts. The
four hold each others hands aloft as the fade to elsewhere
