As we return from commercial we get a quick replay of Suffering winning the Intercontinental Championship
"That was just moments ago, Suffering defeating Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship and King, u...."
Cole is cut off as the speakers burst to life with the strains of No Chance In Hell
"NO CHANCE..., CAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU'VE GOT.... NO CHANCE.... NO CHANCE IN HELL...."
The crowd give a mixed reception as Vince McMahon waddles onto stage in gray suit, his arms pumping in full on power walk, a smug expression on his face
"Well here's Mr McMahon King, on the losing side at Survivor Series but quite clearly NOT fired. I believe Steve Austin was along with the other 5 Superstars on that team"
"Michael... i had the privilege of eavesdropping on a few conversations backstage before the show and I think Vince is going to have a few announcements that will shock the world here tonight" beams Lawler as McMahon enters the ring and strides across it to take a mic, moving back to the center of the ring. As his music cuts, he raises it..
"Firstly I always find it's good to get the bad news out of the way first so everybody can go home happy ... it's one of the reasons you'll never see The Miz in a main event..."
The crowd pop
"The bad news is that my son Shane suffered a serious back injury following what happened at Survivor Series, an injury that means he can no longer forfill his duties as WWE Chairman"
The crowd pop, Vince holding up a hand with a slight scowl
"Please... Shane is still somebody's son.. MMMMY SON, so i ask each and every one of you to have some respect. He maybe a no good bastard son of Satan's own seed... but he takes after his old man in that way and if I'd have been in his position twenty five years ago.. I'd have probably done the same. HELL, I DID do it, I bought WWE of my own father and made myself Chairman"
The fans boo the defense
"But the good news is that in my sons absence... Linda and the WWE board of directors... have reinstated me.. Vincent Kennedy McMahon, as Chairman"
Mixed response
"So the first order of business is cleaning up the mess left at Survivor Series and in particular the situation surround the World Tag Team Championships and the WWE Championship. It is completely within my power to reinstate all five WWE originals... but quite frankly I have no intention of doing so..."
Now the crowd start to jeer, turning on McMahon
"The WWE Originals FAILED in MY moment of crisis. They went into this very ring at Survivor Series knowing that if they failed me.. I would be out of a job, that the New Generation would win... well they did win and it was ONLY by luck... hell, it was by an ACT OF GOD.. that I'm still Chairman here tonight. The WWE Originals let me down and did NOTHING to save my job so I'm not saving there's If you didn't get the message at Survivor Series.. Showtime, Nightmare, Sphere, Triple H, Shawn Michaels... YYYYYYOU'RE FIIIIIIIIRED"
MASSIVE heat, a DX chant breaking out as the fans want to see Triple H and HBK, Michael smiles to himself when he hears it
"And that brings me to my second point of business... STRIPPING D-Generation X of the World Tag Team Championships"
The crowd boo even more
"As Shawn Michaels and Triple H are no longer employed by this company they have no right to hold those Championship belts. Therefore tonight in this very ring I'm officially making the two tag matches on the card part of a one night tournament. The winners of Ryan Simmons and Primal versus Warlord and Scorpio and Miz and Morrison versus The Undertaker and Kane facing off in tonight's main event for the vacant World Tag Team Championships"
"This is BS King... how can he do this?" goes Cole, McMahon pausing a moment to let it sink in
"Finally.. the WWE Championship or more particularly... which Superstar has the guts to step up and face John Cena. A long time ago I talked about ruthless aggression, about stars seizing the day, stepping up to that plate and hitting a home run out of the ballpark. Tonight... I'm not going to name a number one contender... I'm going to wait and see which of those Superstars in the back deserves it, which Superstar has that ruthless aggression and which Superstar has the edge to challenge John Cena at the Royal Rumble. That announcement will be made... next week"
With that Vince hands the mic back to Mark Yeaton and No Chance in Hell hits, the fans making their feelings knows as the boo McMahon out of the ring
"I don't believe this King... one day back as Chairman and McMahon's back to his old ways, he and his son are both just as bad as each other" complains Cole, King more excited however
"You expected him to reinstate the WWE Originals Michael? i'm just happy I wasn't fired with them... and don't forget... we're gunna see new tag team champions here tonight!" he goes, the brackets quickly appearing on screen showing the two semi-final matches and tonight's main event, the final. Cole tells us that the first of those matches - Miz and Morrison versus Undertaker and Kane is next as we fade...
