WWE Tag Team Championships History

While the WWE Tag Team Championship only dates back to 2002, it is still considered one of the most prestigious championships in the history of tag team wrestling. The championship got its start after the invasion by ECW in 2002 and were then brought back on SmackDown later that year under the WWE banner. Since that time, many great tag teams have staked claim to the prestigious championship, including the Brothers of Destruction, Los Guerreros and Edge & Christian. Below is a complete list of the WWE Tag Team Champions.
