The histories of Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan are so intertwined it was only a
matter of time before they met on the grandest stage of em all.
The two
biggest draws in wrestling history had feuded in 2002 when Austin led Team WWE
against the nWo but it wasn't till early 2003 the twos mutal dislike came to the
fore.
Austin, knocked senseless in Wargames, seemed to have taken the
side of the Iron Sheik and Andre The Giant (The Weapons of Mass Destruction) in
their war against the all American Hulk Hogan, to the shock of fans. It was all
a ruse however, simply to get to Hogan and the World Championship Austin once
again craved.
After costing Hogan the title to Suppz and generally
running riot against The Immortal One, including crushing his car, it came down
to a triple threat match at No Way Out 2003, Suppz vs Austin vs Hogan. Hogan,
having already faced and defeated Andre earlier in the night, was expected to
take a beating, but instead beat both men and won back his World Title.
There was only one place this feud could be settled - SAFECO Field,
Seattle, Wrestlemania XIX, Icon vs Icon.
The match is generally
considered one of the greatest of all time, if not THEE greatest. After a
grueling match lasting over half an hour, it was Austin who picked up the
victory and his second World Heavyweight Championship on what most would call,
the greatest night in Sports Entertainment history.
