The Main Event of the historic WrestleMania XX was the first, but not last, time that the slot would be filled by a Triple Threat Match.
Ever since winning the World Title at the previous years Survivor Series, Showtime had to deal with a number of contenders, in particular former running buddies, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels.
Show had a long history with HBK, right back to the days of 2002 in FWC when Showtime had replaced Michaels in that companies parody of D-Generation X. Their feud in 2002 was brutal, ranging from ladder matches to three stages of hell and involving once again DX and later X-Factor.
Hogan however, was a new factor for Showtime. The two had never met before but the Hulkster's claim to a title shot was a good one after he claimed that not only was he unfairly eliminated from the Elimination Chamber in which Show won the belt, but also that the match was flawed as it had allowed Silent Assassins interference.
In the end, the three way was decide and while fighting for both the belt and survival of the company, many claim these three men put on the greatest WrestleMania Main Event of all time. When it was all said and done, Hogan won the gold, the nWo returned and we were left with a legacy that will last a lifetime.
