Rock Solid vs. James Steele

‘MNM going onto WrestleMania with a win there Tazz, nothing better than a confidence booster in your last match before the big one’ admits Styles as we return to ringside.

‘Yeah no doubt about that Joey, if ya can get some momentum going before a big match ya got a much better chance of picking up the victory, the kid Punk and Cabana though, they ain’t exactly up to the standard that MNM face at WrestleMania Joey’ replies Tazz.

‘Well that’s true Tazz, MNM will face Los Conquistadors and Adult Viewing in that Triple Threat TLC Match this Sunday, but Tazz, give it a few more months and both Punk and Cabana will be at that standard’ Styles assures his co-commentator, Tazz retorting that maybe it’s not a good thing to be at Adult Viewing’s standard as the sounds of the Three Six Mafia begin to emit from the speakers signaling the arrival of James Steele.

‘YEAH…..WOO-OOO….THREE SIX MAFIAA……….WE AINT PLAYING WITCHA…..IN THE STREET WITCHA…..WHOA-HEY, WHOA-HEY, WHOA, HEY, STEP UP BRING IT…..YESSIRRRR…..SOMEBODY GONNA GET DEY ASS KICKED, SOMEBODY GONNA GET DEY WIG SPLIT’

‘Well Tazz, here comes James Steele who will face Primal Sunday at WrestleMania for that Intercontinental Title’ goes Styles as the Scot enters to boos from the crowd, the camera getting a good look at the gold around Steele’s waist.

‘This Steele is a tough son of a gun Joey, he can brawl with the best, yeah he ain’t the biggest guy in the back but that doesn’t bother him one bit, but he’s got a hell of a job on at WrestleMania if he wants to stay the champ, that Primal is nuts man, there’s no telling what he can do and there’s a strong chance he’ll walk out the new champ’

‘Well before James Steele can focus on that match he’s got one right here’ states Styles as Stitches by Allele starts up, the crowd giving Steele’s opponent a great reception.

‘This man may prove a test for Steele Tazz’ laughs Styles.

‘That’s an understatement Joey, to borrow a line from JR, this match is gonna be as ugly as a pet coon’ goes Tazz, Styles pointing out that that might not be the exact line but Tazz waves Styles’ accusations away as Rock Solid enters the ring and stares down his opponent, an air of anticipation for this match as Styles informs us of the past between these two, both men having known each other for a long period of time but never encountered each other in the ring. The bell sounds as we get underway, Steele calling Solid to meet him in the middle of the ring and RS obliges, Steele giving his opponent a few choice words but extends a hand, the Las Vegas native looking to the crowd but that’s his downfall as Steele gets a slap in, the crowd not liking that particular action as the Scot trash talks….and gets a slap right back, Solid not wanting to put himself at a disadvantage as he goes straight for a side headlock, Steele recovering and backing both men into the ropes, the Scotsman being pushed away to the other side and rebounding into the shoulder of RS, the slightly heavier of the two men using that advantage as Steele scrambles back into a corner to regroup, Solid telling Steele to bring it as he gets back to his feet and walks back to the center, RS offering up a test of strength which Steele obliges to, beginning to overpower Solid who’s surprised and has to dig deep to regain his position which he does, Steele now being forced down but the Scot has a get-out clause in the form of a gut kick and some hard clubs to the back, Solid arching as Steele continues his assault, forcing Solid into a corner and delivering some hard right hands to the abdomen, followed by some kicks and finally with a closed right to the face, the crowd not liking that one bit as the referee admonishes Steele for the use of the closed fist, the Scotsman not caring one bit however as he returns to Solid, who’s now in a sitting position in the turnbuckle, and plants a foot into the throat whilst using the top rope for leverage, blatant choke here by Steele who breaks at 4, referee Mike Posey once again admonishing James for the illegal behavior. Steele pulls his opponent up, Solid attempting some comeback blows but Steele returns with a knee to the stomach and a quick snap suplex, floating over into a cover, one…two…t-no, Solid rolling a shoulder out but the Scot has a look on his face that suggests he wasn’t expecting a three count so early on in the match as he pulls Solid back to his feet again, hard Irish whip into the turnbuckle and a pause, Steele charging in after his opponent, perhaps looking for a clothesline but eating the elbow of RS, the crowd liking the fight that Solid shows as Steele comes charging back in, in a blind rage maybe, and once again eats the point of the elbow, Solid exploding out of the corner with a brutal clothesline to the back of the head of the blindsided Steele, the Scot hitting the mat with a thud as Tazz suggests he could be out cold, Solid shows no remorse however, hitting some big time elbows to the back of his opponent and scrambling into a cover after the third, only getting two however as Steele rolls a shoulder out, Solid a little frustrated as he props the Scot up, nasty looking soccer kick to the back leaves him rolling in agony as the crowd wince at the impact, Steele rolling to the outside looking for a breather perhaps as he holds his back but the man from Las Vegas rolls right out with him, grabbing the head and ramming it into the ring steps, the noise echoing around ringside as the fans cheer for the show of aggression, Solid obviously not done though on the outside as he scoops Steele up onto his shoulders and makes motions to the ringpost, Styles describing the Scot as a lawn dart that’s about to be chucked to a steel-based conclusion but it’s not to be, Steele managing to slide down the back and send Solid head first into the post, much to the dismay of the crowd. Steele rolls back into the ring to break the count which has reached six, Mike Posey telling the Scotsman to stay inside but he has no intention of listening, rolling back to the floor and grabbing a hold of Solid who’s gradually getting to his feet and ramming him spine first into first the ring apron and then the guard rail, possibly weakening the back area for the Edge of Steele it would seem as Steele rolls Solid back into the ring and covers, one….two….thr-no, Solid showing signs of life still it would seem as Steele stays on the attack with some deep knees to the back followed by one that stays there, the Scot wrenching back on the arms and driving his full force into the spine of RS who tries to fight the pain and stay in the match, referee Mike Posey asking him whether he wants to submit but the support from the crowd suggest not, Solid using it to his full advantage as he begins to struggle back to a vertical base, Steele trying to urge the fans to shut up and stop their encouragement but it’s too late as RS gets to both feet and delivers a series of elbows to the gut causing Steele to release his grip, Solid feeling a shift of momentum perhaps as he rebounds of the ropes…straight back into a knee to the gut, Solid turned inside out by his own momentum as Steele says that’s it, obviously feeling he’s done enough to warrant an attempt at the Edge Of Steele. The Scot grabs hold of Solid and places the head, lifting him up and looking to deliver that signature Powerbomb but it won’t happen this time as RS reaches a sitting position but manages to reverse the move into one of his own, a DDT, high impact move from such a height leaves both men down as the crowd give a big pop, both Styles and Tazz highly impressed by the athletic counter as we see a replay, Steele’s head clearly being planted into the canvas. Back to live action as we see Mike Posey reach a count of five, the crowd urging Solid back to his feet as they realize the importance of doing so. Posey reaches eight as Steele climbs to his feet, swiftly followed by Solid who takes a punch for his troubles, an exchange beginning as Steele cops a right hand to the jaw as well, both men slugging it out with big right hands until Steele comes back with a thumb to the eye, ducking under a blind swing from Solid and scoring with a backbreaker, RS clutching at the back that’s been worked over by the Scot who covers, one….two….thre-no, a kick out just in time to the crowd’s delight, which is quickly silenced as the injured Solid is pulled up once more and hoisted……Edge Of Steele connects this time, Steele rolling into a rather nonchalant cover…one…..two…..three.

‘The Edge Of Steele and that’s it Tazz, James Steele picking up the win here over Rock Solid at One Night Stand…will that be the same fate that Primal endures this Sunday at WrestleMania?’ asks Styles.

‘It could well be Joey, it could well be, Primal’s a helluva step up from RS that’s for sure but that Edge Of Steele is one brutal move, doesn’t matter who gets it’ replies Tazz.

‘And perhaps Steele isn’t quite finished here tonight’ starts Styles as Steele grabs a hold of Rock Solid again, the sounds of Three Six Mafia abruptly cutting as the Las Vegas native is hoisted up once more….

‘EDGE OF STEELE AGAIN, FOR GOD’S SAKE JAMES THE MATCH IS OVER, GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE’ shouts Styles but the Scot still isn’t done with the ECW Superstar, nipping to the ring bell table and grabbing hold of the ring bell, Jason Roberts powerless to do anything as Steele returns to the ring, stalking the slowly rising Solid. The Intercontinental Champ soon makes a hasty exit however, the crowd going wild as they see a figure running to the ring.

‘PRIMAL…..THAT’S PRIMAL….AND LOOK AT STEELE GETTING OUTTA DODGE LIKE A COWARD, HE WAS ABOUT TO USE THAT RING BELL AND DO SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE BUT HE’S NOW MAKING HIS WAY THROUGH THE CROWD UPON THE SIGHT OF HIS OPPONENT FOR THIS SUNDAY’ cries our play-by-play man as we see Steele looking back towards the ring from the safety of the concession stands where he’s met by the sight of Primal gesturing that the belt will be around his waist come the end of WrestleMania. We leave ringside on that image…..
