Intercontinental Championship: The Rock vs. James Steele
"The Rock and Hulk Hogan certainly forming an effective alliance King but I've gotta ask if that maybe a good thing for the Rock because as we know, Mr McMahon and Jonathan Coachman have a vendetta against the Hulkster" points out JR as we return, Lawler not answering as the speaks burst to life with Electrifying
"IF YA SMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL.... WHAT THE ROCK, IS COOKIN" blares the opening, the music hitting to a thunderous roar from this crowd, the jakked up Rock wasting no time in bursting through the curtain onto stage
"JR the Rocks ALREADY in Mr McMahons bad books, why would you want to antagonize him by allying with Hulk Hogan?!" spits the suspicious King "You know JR, the Rocks not interested in helping guys like Mysterio, he's just out for himself, trying to stay near the WWE Championship"
Rocky bounds down the aisle, water on his brow and looking ready for this rematch from SmackDown
"Well i don't believe that for a second King, the Rock is a man of the people but lemme tell ya, he desperately craves that WWE Championship, he's won it all, he's made million dollar movies, former Intercontinental and United States Champion, but he's never won the big one, never been to the top of the mountain in WWE" points out JR as Rock bounds up the steps and across the ring, climbing the turnbuckle with his arm held high aloft, smelling the electricity of the crowd before stepping down, cameras flashing and we head back to the stage, Survival of the Sickest blaring
"James Steele what you could term a fighting Champion folks, taken on all comers, even after the break up of the Foundation here in WWE, Steele controversially defeated Primal at WrestleMania 23"
The jeers ring out as James Steele strides onto stage, belt over his shoulder tonight, stoney faced as always
"James Steele has held that belt since The Royal Rumble folks, defeating Forxx in a Three on One handicap match where Showtime and Nathan James were both his partners, both of whom were understand will be going to ECW , Nathan having his last match against Shawn Michaels right here"
"JR, thats gunna be a match for the ages!!" squeals King as we see Steele heading for the ring, climbing the steps as he's announced by Lillian
"Certainly been brewing for a number of months, ever since Nathan James screwed Forxx at No Way Out many would say" goes Ross as Steele poses with the belt and hands it to our Referee Jimmy Kordaras
"Such an illustrious Title right there, the Rock a former Two Time Champion back when the title was exclusive to SmackDown, one of the great Intercontinental Champions in my estimation, looking ton equal the record of Title wins here, Dr.S holding the Title on Three separate occasions"
Steele and Rocky move to their corner as the Referee hands the Intercontinental Championship belt out to the Timekeeper and calls for the bell, this title match now underway.... and Steeles out of the block fast, going for the powerful rights - blocked, Rock comes back with a right, another, another, his frustration from SmackDown exploding here. Steeles backed into the corner - stomp, stomp, stomp, over and over, mudhole stops to the Intercontinental Champion, Steeles pulled out, placed against the ropes, Irish Whip... reversed and Steele sends Rocky running and rebounding.... Rock scores with the Forearm to the face. Steeles up quick however, staggering into the ropes, Rock has the arm for the Whip again, Steeles sent running and coming back - Back Elbow by the Great One connects but once more Steele is up, shoved into the ropes, a third Irish Whip, runs - kicks Rocky under the chin as he rebounds, the Peoples Champion attempting a Back Body Drop... and Steele Clotheslines him down, again, a third, hard Clotheslines connecting across the throat of the challenger. Rock is slowly getting up now, Steele lifting his big frame up and showing great strength.... as he drops Rocky neck first across the top rope, maybe singling it out. Rocky clutches his windpipe in pain as James looks out into the crowd, showing them how dominant he is now the momentum has shifted. The fans boo but the Champion won't care as he turns back to Rocky... nice Inverted Atomic Drop, Rocky staggering back - Clothesline again..... and more stomps, trying to ware down the challenger with relentless offense. Rocky manages to stagger up however, into the ropes, sent running and rebounding - Back Body Drop by Steele, Rock staggers up, on spaghetti legs - Side Kick, Rocky down and out as the Champion cuts the air. The jeers ring out as Steele assumes the stalking position, ready to unleash the Edge of Steele as the Great One stands, back to James, turns - Gut Kick... caught, the Rock spins Steele around, back to face him, the roar sounding out as the arm goes over, looking for the Rock Bottom - Elbowed away by Steele who quickly follows, charging and attempting a Clothesline - ducked by Rock, around and behind, Steele spins, Rock has the arm - Irish Whip into the rope. The Champion rebounds toward Rocky.... Spinebuster, the spine on the pine. The roars and ROCKY, ROCKY, ROCKY chants are deafening as Rock leaps up and moves to James' head, kicking the arm into place and slowly peeling off his armband... throws it to the crowd. The arms swing, Rocky runs into the ropes, rebounds off, leaps over Steele, into the other side, off again.....
"PEOPLES ELBOW... THE ROCK SCORES, CAN IT BE....." cries JR and Rocky hooks the leg, the Refree going down, the crowd counting along with him
"ONE"
"TWO"
"THREE, YES, YES, THE ROCK, THE ROCK!!!" screams Ross as the arena erupts, Electrifying blasting from the speakers and the Intercontinental Championship is thrust into the Peoples Champions hand
"THE ROCK IS THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION" he adds, Rockys arm raised in victory as we get a replay, the Great One bounding over to the corner and mounting, flinging the belt back on his lifted arm in that familiar fashion, smelling the air
"Well this is what happens in a fair contest King, not like on SmackDown, this is what happens when the Corporate Ministry don't get involved, the Roc has become the Three Time Intercontinental Champion, only the second man EVER to accomplish that feat" points out JR as we see Steele exiting up the aisle, cursing as he stares at the posing rock, camera going off and the chants filling the air as we fade away to a commercial break.....
